Sightseeing - driving tours or just "hanging out"

 Backroads Driving Tour

The "backroads" of Southern Brown County provide an opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful rural area. A Backroads Tour brochure is available at the Visitor's Information Booth in Higginsport, across the street from the Fireside Restaurant on Columbia Street (US Hwy 52).

 Brown County Covered Bridges
Today, five covered bridges stand as a part of our
local history and heritage, lending their beauty and charm to Brown County's beautiful rural countryside. A Covered Bridge Brochure and map is available in Higginsport, the Chamber of Commerce in Georgetown, and at several other locations

Northern KY also offers a number of Covered Bridges for those needing a several day
"covered bridge fix". Northern KY Covered Bridge brochures are also available.

Watching the boats navigate the Meldahl Locks from the observation deck is a fascinating experience for young and old alike. You can frequently catch one of the massive barges as they pass through, or perhaps one of the paddlewheelers.

Nothing like a good "float" on the River to cool you off on a hot summer day. The waters on this section of the Ohio are quite clean, and provide a great way to while away the hours,
with or without a boat!

Fishing opportunities abound, with favorite "fishing holes" at the Meldhal Locks public access, the old "Iron Bridge" over White Oak Creek, and
if you're lucky enough, right outside
your own front door!
